Visit Northern Tasmania has a dedicated Business Development Manager to assist with sporting, special interest and major events.

Sport, Special Interest & Major Events

Northern Tasmania has a network of amazing roads, parks, rivers, and sports grounds, the makings of a unique destination to host a wide variety of events. Together with the Tasmanian Government’s established and efficient security, transport, technology and accommodation systems, we have a solid reputation as a state that regularly, successfully and reliably delivers major national and international events. Launceston is also the proud home to national teams in Australian rules football, basketball and netball.

Cycling, running, canoeing, sailing, mountain biking on world-class trails, you name it; If you are looking for the next host destination for your event, we would be delighted to show you what Northern Tasmania has to offer.

We provide event organisers with the following services:

BID SUPPORT

  • Bid document preparation & presentation.
  • Suitable venues and unique event concepts to ‘wow’ event attendees.
  • Organise and host site visits for key national decision makers.
  • Securing support from key industry leaders.

EVENT SUPPORT

  • Connect event organisers to accommodation providers, tour operators, and other relevant tourism industry operators.
  • Pre and post-event travel itineraries and destination content for your event website.
  • Assistance to navigate funding options available from State and Local Government.
  • Advocacy support for funding.

MARKETING

  • Marketing activities to promote event attendance such as social media posts, blogs and traditional media.
  • Event listing on the What's On Launceston & Northern Tasmania events website.
  • Access to the VNT brand assets via our Media Hub.
  • Dedicated event landing page on www.visitnortherntasmania.com.au (for events with anticipated attendance in excess of 1,000 people)
  • We encourage events to list on the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW) for exposure on travel websites around Australia including Discover Tasmania, Visit Northern Tasmania and What's On Launceston & Northern Tasmania.

Business Events Tasmania - (BET) is the peak organisation for the business events sector in Tasmania.
BET is a convention bureau – a not for profit, sales and marketing organisation, whose primary role is to market the destination’s business event credentials nationally and internationally and work with event planners to bring their event into the destination.

- Conference, convention and championship incentives are available to encourage associations, corporate organisations and local/state government to host their conferences, conventions or championships within the Launceston municipality during the tourism off-peak and shoulder seasons.

- MEA is a national, independent not for profit organisation dedicated to servicing the needs of the meetings & events industry and promoting professionalism and excellence in all aspects of meetings and event management. It also promotes the value and effectiveness of meetings and events as an important high-yield sector of business travel and tourism.

Ensure your event is listed on ATDW so it is picked up by various tourism websites such as those managed by Tourism Australia, Tourism Tasmania and Visit Northern Tasmania.

Get greater visibility for your event with the local community and visitors alike at 'What's On Launceston & Northern Tasmania'. Most events will be listed on the What's On Launceston & Northern Tasmania website but be sure to check and see whether your event is listed. If it's not, then you can easily create a manual listing here.
