- Hollybank Forest is just a short drive from Launceston and once on the bike it's network of bushland tracks will see you weave and wind through the wilderness. The perfect warm up for the expedition later in the day to Derby, the aptly named 'no sweat' trail will have you enjoying a circular route around the reserve.
- You may or may not have worked up a sweat as the name of the route suggests but to recover from your workout drop in to Bread and Butter located in Lilydale, a further 7 minutes down the hill by car. This beautiful town paired with Tassie pastries, baked goods and coffee will keep you satisfied until the next stop.
Afternoon
- Self drive on roads passing through rolling farmland and paddocks laden with rich red soil. Small country towns with vineyards and producers scattered amongst the outskirts tell the story of the pioneering spirit of the area. Arrive in Derby, the once tin mining town and now thriving mountain bike community.
- Take a look about, chat to the many characters of the town, and then saddle up for part two of your riding adventure. The route known as 'Lake Derby' begins in the centre of town and is Derby's easiest and most accessible trail. Take this on and in 10-30 minutes depending on your fitness level you will undertake an enjoyable ride around the picturesque lake.
- Still keen to find some flow? Rapids is the perfect trail. Following the Ringarooma river upstream it offers great views back to the town and even the odd photo opportunity along the way.
Evening
Return to Launceston, or grab a hearty meal at one of the local pubs before putting your feet up at one of the many warm and welcoming accommodation options located within the township.

- Let the locals take you on a guided adventure with Mountain Bike Tasmania and Vertigo MTB operating regular tours, or take on the trails independently. Whichever you choose, you are in store for rides you will relish.
- Bring your own bike, or if you need to hire pick one up at the many bike shops in Launceston or in Derby.
