If you are one of the lucky ones who snagged a ticket to Foo Fighters one-night-only UTAS Stadium show on Saturday 24 January 2026, then it is time to plan ahead and get some insider tips to make the most of the night; or of your stay in Launceston and Northern Tasmania.
January is a busy time of year in Tasmania with visitors and locals enjoying some time off during summer, the school holidays and the Australia Day long weekend. Make sure that you plan ahead, check what transport options are available, make sure that you have an accommodation booking, and consider making reservations for dining while you are here.

Transport and Getting Around
Make sure you have checked distance and transport options when arriving to the airport, arriving by sea and what is available to and from your accommodation. Book ahead if you are planning to self-drive - hire cars are in high demand during January and must be reserved in advance to avoid disappointment. Check with your accommodation provider to see if they are offering transfers to and from the concert, and whether they have an airport transfer service.

Parking Options
All the information you need to know about parking in Launceston for the FooFighters concert! The best option is private land opened up especially for this concert at Glebe - only 800m walk to the Stadium. Parking here will open at 3pm, $5 entry with proceeds going towards Rotary Community Group of Northern Tasmania, and will remain open until 10am on Sunday. Access through Glebe Farm Road (Young's Veggie Shed on the corner).Council carparks will all be open, with the multistorey carparks staying open all night.
Care Carparks provide a number of paid carparks around town, many of which are also 24 hour. Further information go to Care Carparks (search Launceston). University of Tasmania have offered part of their Newnham Campus for parking. The 110 Metro bus (public transport) stops just outside Queen Elizabeth Walk on Maritime Way. The Newnham Campus location is only a 2km walk from UTAS Stadium. Accessible parking is available at the Southern Inveresk carpark (QVMAG) ONLY to those with a DDA parking permit. On street parking is available all across Launceston - perhaps consider hiring a Beam scooter to get you from your carpark to the venue. Beam have dedicated extra spaces for scooter drop off/pick up.

There is strong demand for accomodation over the Australia Day long weekend, and throughout January. If you haven't yet booked your accommodation, you can contact the Launceston Visitor Information Centre for assistance. The team can also help with booking tours and attractions in the region.
