With boutique vineyards & distilleries, berry farms, Australia's oldest pilot station and an early lighthouse to explore, peel back the layers to unearth a busy working port, thriving rural and riverside hamlets and secluded coastal townships.
What's on in the East Tamar
George Town is the place to go for community celebrations, from fire works and family friendly activities on New Years Eve, to braving the chilly night and celebrating the Winter Solstice, the community comes together, inviting visitors to join them.
On the first Sunday of every month, head into town for a gathering of classic cars and grab a coffee at Don Mario's. Make a day of it and check out the Low Head Pilot Station, Bass & Flinders Maritime Museum or simply stroll along the main street and picturesque foreshore precinct.
The second Saturday of every month sees the Tamar FM George Town Market, check out the stalls brimming with locally made crafts, pick up a sausage sizzle at the BBQ or some home made cakes. Bring the whole family and hit the mountain bike trails of Mt George, Tippogoree Hills for a shot of adventure to round out your day.
