CEO Message

With news of the Tasmanian Craft Fair and Festivale both advising that their traditional event formats are not viable under current restrictions, we are all in need a bit of good news!

Ben Lomond Visitor Facility – plans unveiled. Initial designs for a future bespoke built visitor complex at Ben Lomond are available for public viewing this Saturday 19 September, between 3-6pm at Evandale Memorial Hall, 8 High Street.

Make Yourself at Home Travel Vouchers – sold out in 38 minutes. A solid initiative from State Government to stimulate intra-state travel was rather more successful than anyone anticipated. Fingers crossed there is a second release being released after the school holidays.

Hotel Verge - Launceston’s newest hotel opened yesterday with the property welcoming it's first guests last night. A fantastic effort by Kate Bucknell and her team to have worked through-out the COVID lock-down to be ready in time for Spring.

NEWS FLASH.

Direct flights from Hobart to Flinders Island have just been announced! This has been a long-time aspiration of mine to see Hobart market opened up to the island with direct flights. Kudos to State Government for brokering a deal with Sharp Airlines to make this happen. An absolute pleasure as always to work with these partners.

Marketing

As part of our refreshed brand identity we have re-skinned the look and feel of our website. The navigation has been updated to ensure it is more operator and consumer friendly and the traditional mouse pointer has been given a fresh new look.

Keep an eye out for our new TV commercials on air statewide on Channel 7. A food/provenance and soft-adventure themed advert have been created from the longer brand launch video. The initial burst will run through until the start of the school holidays.

However, with the right measures in place and guidance from safety experts we see a positive future ahead for events. We are all learning to adapt to a new landscape within the industry and it is wonderful to see so many event organisers devising innovative strategies and rethinking how we deliver events.
