Tamar Valley Food & Wine Boutique Tours

Our tour is not your average food and wine tour! We like to tell stories and take you on an experience that will leave you with a story to share with all your friends and family. The tour kicks off at 9.15am picking up from accommodation in Launceston CBD. For those of you who are staying in the Launceston CBD. If you are staying outside of the CBD your pick up location will be Peppers Silo Hotel. From there we will set off in our luxurious Renault van where you can sit back, relax and enjoy a short drive to our first destination. Along the voyage, we will take you to four of the Tamar Valley's most prestigious vineyards and cellar doors, where you will have the opportunity to taste the delicious award-winning, cool-climate wines that have made the region famous. We also visit a gin distillery on every tour and over the weekend a beer brewery (on request). At our lunch stop, you will be served a delectable platter made from fresh local Tasmanian produce. For those of you who have food allergies, are vegetarian or vegan, don't stress, they have you covered! Throughout the journey of the Tamar Valley, we will tell you stories of the region. From historic sites, famous people who shaped the Valley, to the owners of the vineyards. We will also give you the opportunity to purchase produce from the region to take home. Our voyage will have us docking back into the Silos at 3pm. From here you can take in the beautiful views of the Tamar River or head into the CBD to continue the food and wine experience that Tasmania is known for.
Jan's Story - Originally from South Africa, he grew up in a very academic family. This might explain why he has three University degrees in philosophy, public relations and trauma and family counselling. For 25 years he was a professional public speaker, sharing much of his knowledge learnt through his academic career. In his spare time, he enjoys creating fine art paintings, which were sold in exhibitions across South Africa and later in Tasmania. Jan moved to Tasmania in 2016 and instantly fell in love with its beauty, food and wine. He knew it was a magical place and for the last couple of years operated a wedding photography business. At the start of 2019, he wanted to delve deeper into sharing what he is passionate about... stories! Stories have always been a massive part of Jan???s life. It is the way he perceives his world and engages with other people. Whilst he was studying counselling he focused on narrative counselling where he learnt the value of healing through storytelling. It is known you may forget a smell or even how great something tasted over time but good and engaging stories stay with you for life. Quite often we find ourselves telling friends and family these stories of our experiences, as we want to take them on the journey as well. His passion for storytelling, good food and wine, brought him to opening a tour business on the iconic Tamar Valley. Tamar Valley Food and Wine tours opening in late 2019, shares the stories of the region whilst enjoying mouth-watering food and wine. It was a way to combine a number of things he loves and a way to meet new people - another thing he really enjoys, as everyone has a story to tell. So come along and enjoy an experience like no other!
