Constructed by convict labour, the Colonial Farm Village attraction offers a real insight into the early days of the Van Diemen's Land colony through to the present day with modern day farming activities. Numerous farm animals enjoy a pat and a handful of feed you can also master the old time games or try your hand at fly fishing the Macquarie River (3km private river frontage)
We have five self contained cottages which all have their own character. All cottages have linen and full kitchen and laundry facilities and have a 3-1/2 star AAA rating. All tariffs include continental breakfast provisions which are re-stocked daily.
The two Historic Cottages circa 1820's are very private and offer a unique experience of early romantic colonial lifestyles but with the comforts of today's living. These cottages are located in the extensive gardens of the main homestead and feature antiques, open fires, cottage gardens and a wonderful feeling of times gone by.
On the other hand the rustic Farm Cottages offer modern day comfort having been constructed with recycled materials and are located alongside the Colonial Farm Village and friendly farm animals. Magnificent views from the verandas over the farm and down to the Macquarie River (200 metres)
During your stay you may like to try your hand at trout fishing on the Macquarie River, farm walks, and garden wanders through the extensive heritage gardens featuring a wonderful collection of 170 year old exotic and European trees, numerous old roses which bloom from November to March and interesting perrenials showing their colours from September to May. The gardens surround the Georgian main homestead where the Archer's currently live.
